Love life? How about a whole life of love?

Mark 10:32-45

Big Idea

  • The entire universe is held together by self-giving love
  • Everything in scripture is relational. And it must be read in that context to be understood correctly.
  • Sin is PRIMARILY the destruction of relationships. Not individual moral failures.
  • The emphasis of scripture is that holiness leads to love in relationships.
  • Community doesn't make us holy. The Spirit of God gives us holiness, which expresses itself as loving community.
  • The fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5) are all about relationships.

Questions

  • Does it feel easier to follow Jesus if your purpose is to just love people?
  • Read Galatians 5:22-23
  • Try resetting your idea of "sin." Think about this list being the only things you need to worry about pursuing. How would that change your spiritual life?
  • Will you ask the Holy Spirit to give you more fruit?
  • What would look different tomorrow if you had more?
  • Will you try opening up to someone?
  • Will you try sending a text to someone in your group to try being better friends?
