Divine Appointments
What if it is no accident that we all live and work precisely when and where we do? What if there is a reason behind it all? How would this affect our prayers and expectations?
Why We Love the City (pt. 1)
Cities are polarizing. Some think they are full of great potential. Others think they are full of evil. We're fans of the great city of Houston, and we hope that it is a better place because Redemption Church exists.
We Don't Exist to Promote Moral Values
80% of the people in Redemption Church's area agreed that "the role of churches is to help form and support moral values." But the church exists by grace and for grace because God is the God of grace--so at least 80% of the people around us misunderstand what we are primarily about. With such misunderstanding all around us, Redemption Church has a fantastic opportunity to share hope and turn people's worlds upside down through the good news of the grace of God.
Beautiful Relationships
What does a Christian relationship look like? "They have one hope, one desire, one way of life, the same religion. ... They pray together; they prostrate themselves together; they carry out fasts together. They instruct one another and exhort one another. Side by side they are present in the church of God and at the banquet of God; they are side by side in difficulties and in consolations. Neither ever hides things from the other; neither avoids the other; neither is a grief to the other. Freely the sick are visited and the poor are sustained. Without anxiety, misgiving, or hindrance from the other, they give alms, attend the sacrifices [of the church], perform their daily duties [of piety]."
"Sooner or Later" by Mat Kearney
Sooner or later, we all endure some form of pain and suffering. As we learn to be honest about this, we are then able to find hope. Because we realize that we are still waiting for something.
"Keep Your Eyes Open" by Needtobreathe
This song reminds me of something that Jesus said: we need to be able to see. Jesus says that unless something supernatural happens to us, we won't be able to see (John 3:3). And those of us who have begun to see, we need our eyes further opened.
