When Certainty Doesn't Lead to God

The book of Jonah tells us of two groups of people: a practiced, knowledgeable Israelite and outsiders who know nothing of Yahweh. It may surprise us to see that throughout this book, knowledge about God does not lead to communion and encounter with God. Through this, God reveals the tension between knowledge about a system of beliefs and trust in God. Sometimes knowing doesn't lead to closeness.
