The Book of Colossians
Big Ideas
- It wasn’t just the poets. The earliest church was all about love, from the poets to the theologians to the handworkers, from the dreamers to the doers, and everyone in between.
- Paul's letters are full of descriptions of his love for people.
- Paul is systematic and high minded in his theology throughout the New Testament. Yet it seems that all of his theology is rooted in love. It all has to do with how well we love one another.
- Paul is deeply involved in life with other people.
Questions
- Read through the whole book of Colossians. Focus on how much Paul discusses people and his love for them. Talk about the ones that you see. How do they change the "theology" that you see around them?
- What do you think about this idea: "The only sin you ever commit is not loving."
- Can that be true? Why or why not?
- If it's true, what does it change about the way you see following Jesus?
- Do you know that God has chosen to love you?
- Do you think that he does?
- Love each other.
