A college ministry of Redemption Church
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." -Jesus
What We Do
We gather each week on Mondays at 7:00pm at Hodo Residence College, Room 100D.
The Vine is where students interconnect with others and wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus. We gather together once a week to encourage each other, read Scripture, and pray. The Vine is sort of like a Bible study, but with the relational depth of a family-like community where we help each other work out the messy intersection of following Jesus and daily life. We hope you'll join us and we hope you'll bring your friends.
We also provide a FREE shuttle service to transport college students to join us at Redemption Church on Sundays at 10a. Email JR below for more info!
Who We Are
We are a safe place for absolutely anyone to explore and encounter Jesus. The Vine is a great place to come and ask questions, even the really hard ones you may have.
Our deep desire is for college students to know the transforming grace that's found only in Jesus. To help see this happen, we're committed to coming alongside our students on the journey of life and supporting them through the ups and downs and uncertainties of college life.
JR and Rebecca Harris lead the Vine, along with their beautiful daughter Lylah. JR works as a First-Year Success Coach at Houston Baptist University where his heart is to see under-represented populations and first generation college students succeed in their dreams for the future. JR strives to create a space where students can come together, be themselves and explore what it means to love and follow Jesus.
Rebecca is affectionately known by JR as the "walking Britannica encyclopedia of Bible knowledge" but to her students she is known for her grace, love and encouraging heart. Rebecca is currently working on her PhD in Bible at Rice University. Rebecca's hope is that students can feel safe to explore the deep heart of Scripture while being loved in community.
Lylah is currently loving life and being ridiculously adorable. She enjoys coloring, learning Hebrew with her mom, and Lincoln Logs.
