When Jesus first calls us, it’s both a call to forgiveness and also a call to purpose. He has a purpose in mind for our lives. And if we’ll heed His purpose, we just might see His power exercised within us in ways we’ve never even dared to dream.
Main Text: Luke 5:1-11
When Jesus called His first disciples, there were a few major surprises:
He did so after performing a miracle, catching boat-sinking amounts of fish when they caught none all night.
The people He called were lowly, unlearned fishermen—these are very different from the kinds of people other rabbis called as disciples.
His invitation wasn’t “from now on you’ll see me doing…” but “from now on you’ll be doing.”
From now on, your job is to help captivate people with Jesus.
Yes, this calling is for you too. Regardless of your background or however unworthy you may be.
How might you captivate people? Join us in a hub this week as we begin brainstorming.
