Hope can be elusive, and sometimes grasping for it, when the circumstances of real life don't cooperate, makes it dissolve. So we can either keep trying to muster up hope within ourselves, over and over, each time becoming more hopeless than the last. Or we can listen to some of Jesus' strange advice: let's humble ourselves. Because Jesus said so, and because humility breeds hope.
