Suffering strikes all of us at different times and in different ways, but we all suffer. However God has promised that He will meet us in our suffering and encourage us. At the same time as His people He calls us all to enter into and walk with others as they suffer. Entering into this suffering means we must wholly depend on God. But what does that look like in our real day to day life?
Main Text: 1 Samuel 1:1-18 NLT
The epic history of Israel includes this deeply personal story of a woman in pain, crying out for help. It must be important to God if it’s included here. We’ll consider why that may be.
If we want to help comfort suffering people, we absolutely have to enter into their situation and understand their hurt before we can speak.
Advice for Suffering:
It’s ok to hurt
It’s ok to wrestle with God
It’s really ok to hope
Our souls are dying to be in this place of vulnerable dependence on God. We should take action to try and spend more time here.
Let’s pray through a Psalm to practice together.
