Made for the Feast (Friend of Jesus #6)

Life can get complicated and we can lose ourselves in our search for lives that have meaning. But John shows us that Jesus shows us what our lives are supposed to be all about, and the answer is surprising. Our answers to the question of purpose are failing us. Is there a better way? A way that is written in our hearts and at the core of who we are created to be? Jesus says yes.

Main Text: John 2:1-11

Simple outline:

  • If Jesus were to take you under His wing for the next three years, spending all His time coaching and teaching you—what do you think you’d learn? What do you think He’d start with?

  • The first place Jesus took His disciples was to a wedding, a grand celebration of unity and love. And the first miracle He showed them was turning water into great wine.

  • The goal of all Jesus’ teaching is a communion of joyous love. Of course this is how He’d start the training for His followers.

  • A similar wedding feast is God’s plan and hope for all of humanity. We long for such celebrations and such love because we were made for this goal—love is not a hoax but our destiny.
