We focus a lot on the love and grace God gives us through Jesus, this is spiritual life. But what does Jesus want from us in terms of obedience? What does it look like to truly follow Jesus? The Gospel of Jesus transforms our lives so that we and the world around us begin to look radically different. What would it look like if we actually obeyed Jesus very serious command?
Main Text: John 15:9-17
We’ve been focusing on Jesus’ desire for deep friendship with each of us. But does that mean we don’t have to obey?
Of course not! Jesus wants us to obey because His commands lead us to life. Because He loves us, He’s not indifferent to the things we do, whether we do justice or harm others.
But in today’s main text Jesus repeatedly clarifies what His command is: love.
Thus love isn’t inconsequential. It’s the command of God. What will we do about it?
