We live in a world where bad things happen. Evil, sickness, and death seem to be indiscriminate. In all of this pain and suffering, where is the God who calls us friend? How do we reconcile a loving God who longs to know us, with the pain we all must endure regularly? While we don’t have all the answers, we can look to Jesus and find a God who cares enough to suffer with us, and who will one day do something about it.
Main Text: John 11:1-44

The story of Lazarus can provide deep comfort for us.

Jesus shows that God stands in solidarity with us—in grief, in suffering, against death, through His presence now, and in the resurrection to come.
